Hullabaloo Puppet Theatre

An interactive musical storytelling show for children from 5 months to 5 years. Come to a weekly class or book your own party to meet an elf and woodland creatures, fly with butterflies, roar with dragons and dance the Monster Bop. Are you ready to wake up a Gruffalo? Take off in a rocket ship to meet aliens? or to ride a magic carpet that turns into the sea but look out for pirates! Then (for the older ones) sit down with a biscuit to enjoy our weekly puppet show such as The Tiger that came to Tea, The Princess and the Pea or Where the Wild things are.

It's never too early to be introduced to the world of music and story. Its our traditional way of learning and communicating and has been for thousands of years. Taking part in stories allow us to explore who we are and to decide what interests us about our world even if we are only 5 months old!

Monday Tuesday, find us at the Plough, Northfields Ave, W5 4XB 9.20-10am am under 4s and 10.20-10.50 am under 18mths.

About

It all started when…

Kate de Freitas grew up loving stories, being read to and making up plays. She was always travelling to made up countries and even invented languages for them. (She tried to write a dictionary for one of them aged 9 but understandably gave up!)

When asked at school what she wanted to do when she left she answered. “ I can’t decide between becoming an actress or making toys.”  Now she kind of does both.

In addition to Hullabaloo Kate works as an actress, writer, drama teacher and sings with her jazz band Kate de Freitas & The Babacools. She has written most of the Hullabaloo songs herself.

Having her three children has made her realise how important it is to let children’s imagination flourish and how at school it can often be ignored so she started Hullabaloo Puppet Theatre as a way to introduce children to stories and theatre with puppets and music in a fun quirky often unconventional way to encourage a passion for creativity and to basically just put people in a good mood.

Kate has been influenced by the words of Roald Dahl, the Magic Faraway tree, the Muppet Show, The Clangers Bagpuss and the Magic Roundabout.
